Julia Polai retires from competitions

We have received an email from Julia Polai announcing her decision to retire from competitive dancing. Julia with various partner was an undefeated Austrian Professional Latin champion and represented her country at the European and World Latin championships and many other major international competitions run by WDC. With her former partner Aigars they were finalists of the Professional Rising Star Latin competition at the UK Open and the International Championships, and semifinalists of the WDC World Professional Latin. After being a competitor for 20 years I have decided to retire from competing as it is time for me to take the next step in my life, take over the responsibility of leading my family’s dance school in Austria and finding new perspectives and goals.
It has been a great journey and I was so fortunate to having been able to learn from the best of the best in our business. I would like to thank all the people, that have been helping me to grow and develop by sharing their knowledge and wisdom with me: Waltraud Polai, Barbara Nagode Ambroz, Donnie Burns MBE, Shirley Ballas, Tone Nyhagen, Klaus Kongsdal, Richard Porter, Peter Townsend, Maximilian Winkelhuis, Ruud Vermeij, Espen Salberg and many more!
The biggest THANK YOU goes to my parents Waltraud & Ferry who have been supporting me from the first day on unconditionally with everything they could, I love you both so much!
THANK YOU to my partner Michele Prioletti who has been the best partner anyone could ever wish for! You’re my soulmate, my second half, my sun and my moon and I love you more than anything in the world!
Dancing is the love of my life, and I am looking forward to the challenges coming up being a coach and judge in the competitive dance world. From Michele and I: thank you so much Espen, for introducing us to each other and teaching us so many things!!! Ruud, Max and Peter - you guys are wonderful and it was a pleasure and an honor working with you! And great fun!
Michele has decided to continue his dancing career as a Professional in the Latin American section and is looking for a partner.
